Remember the "official" hurricane season for the Caribbean begins June 1st and remains in effect until November 30th. Typically the most active part of the season lies in the months of September and October.

Hurricane Bill remains a Category 3 storm at press time Friday, with winds exceeding 125 mph. The large storm (with tropical storm-force winds extending 260 miles from its eye) could regain Category 4 strength later today, as it moves toward Bermuda.


Officials on the island have issued a tropical storm warning and a hurricane watch. The storm is expected to make landfall near Newfoundland or Nova Scotia (Canada) late Sunday as a Category 1 storm.
